There has been a lot of paleo talk on Everyday Lush lately, which is different for us. However, I (Suzanne) find that the more I watch what I put in my body, the better I feel.
My daughter is almost fully paleo, so I am always looking for ways to include her lifestyle into mine and have learned to NOT put things that look like chocolate in my mouth when I am at her house Nonna-sitting my – nipotino, Hudson.
It wasn’t chocolate, it was a fake chocolate and it tasted horrible.
However, I LOVE looking at her Instagram feed and seeing the new ways she in integrating plant-based foods into her diet. Then we got to attend a Sprouts event, Livin’ on the Veg, with Dietitian Suzanne Farrell and she explained all the benefits of a plant-based diet and how to implement it into a busy life.
She suggests that “It’s about finding and making those simple nutrition tweaks in your day, and throughout the week, that not only will make a difference but that are also realistic.” This is exactly what a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist needs to say to get me to listen. Don’t change the world, just change parts of what you can.
While we were at Sprouts we had an amazing quick afternoon pick me up snack. Quinoa chips – WAIT.. don’t knock it until you try it. I don’t like Quinoa, but these chips have come into my house since this event because I enjoyed them so much! Then the Almond dip, spicy, flavorful- it is a request at least once a month by my 10-year-old daughter since this day. She loves them!
Sprouts sponsored this event and I learned a lot that day. In fact, since attending the event and meeting Suzanne Farrell, I shop at Sprouts monthly and my friends have even started going for certain items that I have introduced them to. If you are interested, here is a short list of items I recommend if you are going for the first time.
Sprouts Organic Popcorn Himalayan Pink Salt Coconut Popcorn, 4 OZ – This is the greatest thing they have at Sprouts! Seriously, low fat, low calorie, HUGE in flavor
Oasis Naturals Organic Smoky Chipotle Almond Dip, 10 OZ – Spicy, flavorful and my 10-year-old gets it every time we go in. Great after school snack!
Ripple Non-Dairy Chocolate Milk, 48 FOZ – My other daughter is lactose intolerant, this milk is exactly what she needs and wants. Non-dairy and you can’t tell!
Mini Lemon Bites, 11 OZ – Now, if you need a treat, this is the way to go. It has the perfect amount of flavor and they are small so you can only eat one (but who can REALLY only eat one?)
Head on out to Sprouts and see how you can be the same you with better ingredients! I’m looking forward to some new ideas and recipes over the fall season!
